Abstract
Having devoted the first day of the symposium to defining the genetics, ecogenetics and epidemiologic features of familial cancer as well as the ethical issues surrounding the use of information and tissue samples from individual patients towards improving the circumstances of those at risk within the pedigree, the participants set out to decide how this information could be used towards the development of control strategies. This part of the symposium set out to explore the current status with regard to the realisation of the goal of control through the techniques available and the health carers working in the field.
