Zusammenfassung
Das Aufgabengebiet der Klinischen Chemie hat in den letzten 2 Dekaden erhebliche Veränderungen erfahren. Nachdem lange Zeit methodisch-technische Aspekte im Vordergrund des Interesses standen, erwies sich immer mehr die Einbindung der Analytik in ärztliche Strategien zum Nutzen des Patienten als vordringlich. Der Kliniker erwartet heute von der klinisch-orientierten biochemischen Forschung v.a. die Identifizierung geeigneter klinisch-chemischer Kenngrößen und damit neue Impulse für Diagnose und Therapie des Krankheitsgeschehens. Im folgenden soll an speziellen Aspekten des akuten Entzündungsprozesses dargestellt werden, wie eine langjährige Zusammenarbeit unserer Abteilung für Klinische Chemie und Klinische Biochemie mit der Chirurgie zur Entwicklung und Validierung von Nachweismethoden für neue Entzündungsmarker geführt hat, die zukünftig für die klinisch-chemische Routinediagnostik und zur Objektivierung therapeutischer Maßnahmen von entscheidender Bedeutung sein könnten. Darüber hinaus haben sich aus unseren Untersuchungen wesentliche Erkenntnisse im Hinblick auf neue Therapieansätze zur Verminderung von schweren Organversagen bei akuten Entzündungsreaktionen in der Chirurgie ergeben.
