Left Resection in Chronic Pancreatitis

Abstract

Ten to twenty years ago pancreatic left resection was the standard operation in the treatment of diffuse chronic pancreatitis with minor or no dilatation of the ductal system. In recent years, however, various forms of resection of the pancreatic head have gained more and more importance in the operative therapy. Therefore it seems useful to evaluate the present significance of pancreatic left resection in the treatment of chronic pancreatitis.
