Zusammenfassung

Natrium und begleitende Anionen wie Chlorid und Bicarbonat determinieren die extrazelluläre Osmolalität und damit auch die Serumosmolalität. Fehlen Störungen des Säure-Basen-Haushaltes, ist die Harnausscheidung von Natrium und Chlorid eng miteinander korreliert, so daß das Hauptaugenmerk dieser Übersicht über die Bedeutung dieser monovalenten Ionen für die Nephrologie vor allem dem Natrium gilt.
