DNA Ploidy in Soft Tissue Tumors: An Evaluation of the Prognostic Implications in the Different Tumor Types*

  • Chapter
Soft Tissue Tumors

Part of the book series: Current Topics in Pathology ((CT PATHOLOGY,volume 89))

Abstract

The prognosis of patients with soft tissue tumors is determined by many factors, among them not only the basic patho-anatomical findings, but also individual influences such as localization, age, overall personal risk factors (operability, etc.), and the chosen therapeutic procedures (Mandard et al. 1989). The patho-anatomical determinants are tumor size, mode and grade of tumor spread at the time of primary diagnosis, histological tumor type or subtype, and histological grading.
