Abstract

The discrete nature of single electron tunneling (SET) tempts to apply it to digital data processing. A possible design approarch is outlined here. We describe the basic cell for SET digital circuits and show how to make devices based on this cell. Some fundamental physical phenomena that restrict the accuracy of processing are discussed and the ways to get around these restrictions are presented.
