Photo-Induced Carrier Dynamics of YBa2Cu3O7-δ Thin Films

Abstract

Our newly developed technique called “transient thermoelectric effect (TTE)” method using a pulsed laser has been successfully employed to study a carrier dynamics of YBa2CU3O7-δ films. The photo-induced TTE voltages show a multiple relaxation process; a normal electron-hole recombination process in the 1D CuO chains and thermal diffusions of the photo-generated light and heavy holes (“quasiparticles”) arising from the metallic 2D CuO2 plane. Furthermore, we have found anomalous behaviors in the TTE decay curves around 35 and 200 K.
