Thermal Conductivity and Electrical Resistivity of Nd2-x Ce x CuO4-y

Abstract

The thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity of sintered samples of Nd2−x Ce x CuO4-y (NCCO) have been measured in the temperature range from 1.8K to 250K. The magnitude of the thermal conductivity is about one order of magnitude higher than those of YBCO (1-2-3 phase) and LSCO (2-1-4 phase). The temperature dependence has a maximum around 30K and in the high temperature range above 120K it is almost constant. The thermal conductivity below 10K shows T 2.7-dependence. The thermal current is considered to be mainly carried by phonons as in the cases of YBCO, GBCO (1-2-3 phase) and LSCO.
