Abstract
We present the results of two experiments on the anomalous physical properties of La2-xBaxCuO4 with x=0.125. The suppression of a low-temperature tetragonal phase by introduction of Sr in La2-xBaxCuO4 correlates well with the recovery of 30-K superconductivity. Hydrogenation of La2-xBaxCuO4 revealed that the carrier density, rather than the amount of divalent ions, is an essential parameter which governs the anomaly.
