Abstract
The Y1Ba2Cu4O8 superconducting filament has successfully been prepared by dry-spinning through a homogeneous aqueous solution containing Y, Ba and Cu acetates, polyvinyl alcohol and other organic acids. After removing volatile components, the 124 filament is obtained by heating at 780 °C for 3 h. A decomposition of the 124 filament is investigated for introducing fine flux-pinning centers into the 123 filament. A high transport JQ value of 1900 A/cm2 at 77 K and at O T is attained for the 123 filament through the decomposition of the 124 filament.
