Misfit Strain Relaxation in Lattice-Mismatched YBa2Cu3O7-δ/MgO Heterostructures

Abstract

Anomalous misfit strain relaxation was found in the large lattice-mismatched YBa2Cu3O7-δ /MgO heterostructure system. No breakdown of the lattice coherency along the growth direction was found in X-ray diffraction independently of the critical layer thickness hc (~12A). Transmission electron micrographs clearly revealed that the large misfit was relaxed within 1 unit lattice of YBa2Cu3O7−δ at the heterointerface.
