Zusammenfassung
In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erkranken derzeit etwa 250–300 Kinder unter 16 Jahren an einem Tumor des Zentralnervensystems; von diesen sind 20% Medulloblastome. Die Fortschritte in der Chemotherapie dieser Grad-IV-Tumoren der hinteren Schädelgrube sind in den vergangenen Jahren nicht so spektakulär gewesen wie in anderen Bereichen der pädiatrischen Onkologie. Dennoch sind die Heilungschancen beträchtlich gestiegen. Dies sollen Behandlungsergebnisse belegen, die nachfolgend dargestellt werden. Sie betreffen 74 Kinder mit der histologischen Diagnose eines Medulloblastoms bzw. primitiven neuroektoder-malen Tumors (PNET) am Klinikum Mainz1 im Zeitraum 1954–1990.
