Zusammenfassung
„Startle response“ (SR) wird als epileptisches und nichtepileptisches Phänomen meist von kurzen tonischen Spasmen begleitet. Hyperekplexie ist eine angeborene Erkrankung [9]; diese muß von der Startle-Epilepsie unterschieden werden. Der Startle-Reflex ist ein physiologischer, polysynaptischer Reflex, der durch unerwartet präsentierte Stimuli ausgelöst wird und mit einer (tonischen) Muskelantwort innerhalb von 500 ms abläuft [6]. Startle-induzierte epileptische Anfälle sind eine Sonderform von Reflexepilepsien [9], zumeist assoziiert mit dem Lennox-Gastaut-Syndrom [1]. Der definitive Mechanismus der SR, epileptisch oder nichtepileptisch ist nicht bekannt [6].
