Zusammenfassung
In the Nordic countries, cancer registries have been used in particular to study causal relations between exposure to possible carcinogenic agents in the work environment and the occurrence of cancer among exposed workers. To a lesser extent these registries also have been used as a tool in cancer prevention. Cancer registries which cover all new cases of cancer in the whole population of a given country or state are a versatile resource for performing cohort studies and case studies. In the Nordic countries, however, cohort studies on work-related cancer are carried out more frequently than are case studies.
