Zusammenfassung

Der Schlaf-Wach-Rhythmus ist ein allgemein bekanntes Beispiel dafür, daß Verhaltensweisen eine zircadiane Rhythmik aufweisen können. Es ist naheliegend anzunehmen, daß auch die an den Vigilanzstadien beteiligten biochemischen Systeme, wie z. B. das des Neurotransmitters Serotonin (5-HT), eine tageszeitabhängige Oszillation zeigen.
