Zusammenfassung

Mit der Einführung der Levodopa-Therapie (Birkmayer u. Hornykiewicz 1961; Barbeau et al. 1961) konnte bei der Behandlung des Morbus Parkinson ein entscheidender Fortschritt erzielt werden. Die therapeutische Verwendung von Levodopa beruhte auf der Erkenntnis, daß der M. Parkinson aus biochemischer Sicht als striatales Dop-aminmangel-Syndrom beschrieben werden kann. Die spätere Einführung der Kombination von Levodopa mit einem peripheren Decarboxylase-Inhibitor erhöhte die Wirksamkeit dieses Therapiekonzeptes.
