Häufigkeit, Ausmaß und Ätiologie neuropsychologischer Defizite bei HIV-Infizierten

Zusammenfassung

Häufigkeit und Intensität psychiatrischer Symptome bei HIV-Infizierten und bei AIDS-Patienten sind zunehmend Gegenstand klinischer Forschung. Nach den vorliegenden Untersuchungen ist ein depressives Syndrom von klinischer Relevanz bei 15–50% der Patienten zu beobachten (Atkinson et al. 1988; Dilley et al. 1985; Naber et al. 1989; Stieglitz et al. 1988). Die Ausprägung reicht von einer geringgradigen reaktiven Depression bis zu Verzweiflung und Hoffnungslosigkeit mit Suizidideen und auch suizidalen Handlungen. Vom depressiven Syndrom schwer zu trennen ist ein neurasthenisches Syndrom mit leichter Ermüdbarkeit, Apathie, Einschränkung von Konzentration und Gedächtnis. Diese unspezifischen Symptome können als Reaktion auf die lebensbedrohliche Infektion einerseits psychogen sein, können aber andererseits erste Zeichen des zerebralen Befalls durch das neurotrope HI-Virus darstellen (Poser et al. 1988) bzw. den Beginn der subakuten HIV-Enzephalitis ankündigen.
