Zusammenfassung
In diesem Beitrag werden zwei Problembereiche bei der Archivierung multimedialer Dokumente diskutiert, für die die hier vorgesteUten Projekte ODIN (Optical Disc Information Systems) und MARS (Multimedia Archiving and Retrieval System) Lösungsansätze verfolgen.
In ODIN stehen die Entwicklung von Werkzeugen zur Verbesserung konventioneller Ansätze der Dokumentenarchivierung (Retrieval, Navigation, konsistentes Update von Thesaurus und Deskriptoren) sowie die Integration von schnellen Bildspeichersystemen im Vordergrund.
In MARS wird ein Ansatz zur Repräsentation der Dokumentaussagen durch semantisch begründete, inhaltsorientierte Strukturen verfolgt, die die Grundlage für das Retrieval bilden. Insbesondere Anwendungen multimedialer Dokumente in Büroumgebungen werden hier untersucht.
