Zusammenfassung
Die Wirkstoffe, die in diesem Kapitel besprochen werden, stellen eine weitere Gruppe von Substanzen dar, die systemisch (peroral oder intravenös) gegeben insbesondere in einer akuten Situation den erhöhten Augeninnendruck senken können. Somit ist im Gegensatz zu den Karboanhydrasehemmstoffen die An-wendung dieser Medikamente gewöhnlich auf die kurzfristige, notfallmäßige Situation beschränkt wie z.B. dem akuten Winkelblockglaukom oder auf Se-kundärglaukome mit dramatisch erhöhten Augenin-nendruckwerten. Andere klinische Indikationen für Hyperosmotika sind die Reduktion des Glaskörper-volumens als eine prophylaktische Maßnahme vor be-stimmten intraokularen Eingriffen. Der Wirkungs-mechanismus und die Nebenwirkungen dieser Substanzen sind innerhalb der Wirkstoffgruppe ver-gleichbar, mit einigen relevanten Ausnahmen. Es werden deshalb die allgemein gültigen Gesichtspunkte für die gesamte Wirkstoffgruppe besprochen, be-vor auf spezielle Gesichtspunkte der einzelnen Substanzen eingegangen wird.
