Zusammenfassung

Pharmakologische Wirkstoffe, die den Effekt des Azetylcholins am cholinergen Rezeptor nachahmen, werden allgemein als Parasympathomimetika, cholinerge Agonisten oder Miotika bezeichnet, wobei letzterer Terminus der gemeinsamen pupillenverengenden Wirkung dieser Substanzgruppe Rechnung trägt. Die Parasympathomimetika waren die ersten Antiglaukomatosa, die etwa 1870 in die Glaukomtherapie eingeführt wurden. Alle Vertreter dieser Wirkstoffklasse haben die gleiche prinzipielle Wirkung auf die Kammerwasserdynamik und ihre wesentlichen Unterschiede bestehen in der Wirkungsdauer sowie in der Schwere der Nebenwirkungen.
