Zusammenfassung

Stumpfe Kontusionstraumen mit Beteiligung des Auges sind relativ häufig. Meist sind junge Männer von stumpfen Augentraumata betroffen. Bei einer Untersuchungsreihe an 205 Patienten mit Kontusionstraumen des Auges waren 85% Männer und 75% der Patienten jünger als 30 Jahre [1]. Sportverletzungen und häusliche Unfälle lagen etwa 2/3 dieser Verletzungen zugrunde, das verbleibende Drittel ging überwiegend auf Körperverletzung und Unfälle am Arbeitsplatz zurück. Bei 32 Patienten, die wegen einer Kontusionsverletzung des Auges beim Sport stationär behandelt werden mußten, waren Ballspiele in irgendeiner Variante die häufigste Ursache [2]. Boxen trägt ein besonders hohes Verletzungsrisiko für Augen, was in 66% bei einer Untersuchung von 74 Boxern verifiziert wurde [3].
