Zusammenfassung

Beim Neugeborenen ist die Variabilität der Herzfrequenz abhängig vom Schlaf-Wach-Verhalten und unterliegt Reifungsprozessen (Harper et al. 1976). Miyazaki et al. (1979) fanden bei reifen Neugeborenen mit schweren EEG-Veränderungen eine stark eingeschränkte Variabilität der Herzfrequenz, und Schechtman et al. (1989) beschrieben dieses Phänomen bei Kindern, die später einem „sudden-infant-death-syndrome“ (SIDS) erlagen.
