Zusammenfassung
Ein Hirnödem tritt im Kindesalter hauptsächlich als Folge asphyktischer Ereignisse oder eines Schädel-Hirn-Traumas auf. Pathophysiologisch können zwei Formen des Hirnödems voneinander abgegrenzt werden: das zytotoxische und das vasogene Hirnödem. Das vasogene Hirnödem wird v.a. bei Vaskulitiden im Zusammenhang mit einer Meningitis gefunden. Das zytotoxische Ödem tritt v.a. postasphyktisch auf [2, 6, 10].
