In der Schweiz ereignen sich jährlich schätzungsweise 1 Mio. Unfälle, über 3000 Personen werden dabei getötet und es entstehen ca. 13 Mia. Franken direkte und indirekte Kosten daraus, was etwa 9% des Bruttosozialprodukts entspricht (Huguenin, 1981).
