Zusammenfassung
Bis zur Gegenwart existieren bereits umfangreiche Forschungsergebnisse zur Zusammensetzung und zum Aufbau von Moränen der ehemaligen Inlandvereisungsräume in den Tiefländern Eurasiens und Nordamerikas. Diese Befunde wurden zur Rekonstruktion der Dimension und der Anzahl pleistozäner Inlandvereisungen genutzt. Die Ergebnisse der lithologischen Analysen erwiesen sich als höchst informative zur Aufklärung der Konfiguration von Inlandgletschern sowie zur Präzisierung iher Struktur. Für die bisher am intensivsten erforschten Gebiete war es möglich, die Lage der Vergletscherungszentren und der Hauptwanderrichtungen der Eisströme zu rekonstruieren.
