Das EES geht auf einen Prototypen zurück, den die TU Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit dem SIEMENS-Leiteinkauf auf EMS5800 entwickelt und 1986 unter dem Namen BELI (Bauelemente-Leiteinkaufs-Informationssystem) veröffentlicht hat.
