Abstract

The objectives of the multi-media project currently carried out at Siemens Corporate R&D laboratories are outlined. The longterm goal is to develop a computer animation system with a speech dialog interface. We sketch the experiences made in a production of an animation with tools available today. Based on that experience research was done on the extension of animation tools by physics-based models and on the improvement of the user interface by providing a command-word recognizer leading to a first prototype. Objects in a virtual world can be manipulated interactively and follow physical laws in their kinematical behaviour.
