Zusammenfassung
Myhill (Myhill 1957) entdeckte die Teilmengenkonstruktion und Richard J. Büchi brachte sie in ihre endgültige Form (Büchi 1964). Sie ist, wenn man so will, eine zutiefst menschliche Vorgehensweise, besteht ihr Witz doch gerade darin, daß Entscheidungen solange hinausgeschoben werden, bis sie gar nicht mehr zu umgehen sind. Sie ist deshalb aber auch eine Metapher für eine Methodik des Programmierens: Entscheidungen zwischen mehreren Alternativen werden erst getroffen, wenn es unbedingt nötig ist.
