Abstract

Predictions on future implantable devices can be divided into three different areas: (a) the vast majority of all implantable devices will still belong to the-group of conventional bradycardia pacing; (b) the group of implantable devices which contain a defibrillator will be of increasing importance, but will not reach the numbers of units of pure pacing devices; (c) a third group of purely diagnostic implantable devices (000) might evolve over the next decade.
