  • Chapter

Abstract

Following the initiation of fluid replacement therapy, the history of the burn is taken in detail and a physical examination is carried out. Local care of the burn wounds is started as soon as the general condition of the patient is stabiUzed with appropriate treatment, because severe infection of the burn wound can lead to life-threatening compHcations such as wound sepsis and septicemia.
