Abstract

Intraperitoneal injection of 300 mg aminoace- tonitrile per kilogram body weight in to pregnant rats on the 15th day post-coitum results in grossly visible effects on the fetuses. Distortion of the front paws and extension of lower limbs is grossly evident in the fetus (Fig. 357). This is described by Pratt and King (1972), Steffek et al. (1972), and Barrow and Steffek (1974) as an effect of p-aminoproprionitrile (BAPN) and by Schmidt et al. (1980) and Wendler et al. (1980) after the administration of aminoacetonitrile (A AN).
