Pacemaker Malfunction in Perioperative Settings

Abstract

The permanent cardiac pacemaker, as opposed to temporary devices discussed in the previous chapter, is used for chronic management of patients with symptomatic bradycardia due to sinus node dysfunction or atrioventricular (AV) heart block [1]. Some newer permanent pacemakers may also incorporate special antitachycardia pacing modes.
