Abstract

This paper describes an on-line environment for future telecommunication systems. The architecture as well as the design of and the results from the prototype summarizes some aspects of the activities in the IBC On-Line Environment (IOLE) project within the RACE program launched by the EC in 1988. The on-line environment targets for the integrated broadband communications network — a network based on the asynchronous transfer mode and supporting a whole variety of services from low to very high bit rates.
