Zusammenfassung

Besonders bei der Behandlung von anorektischen, aber auch bei bulimischen Patientinnen fällt immer wieder auf, daß diese durch eine stark ausgeprägte Körperschemastörung gekennzeichnet sind. Dies drückt sich darin aus, daß sie häufig ihre Körperproportionen überschätzen, ein überhöhtes Schlankheitsbewußtsein aufweisen, starke körperliche Unzufriedenheit äußern und in Extremfällen sogar ihren Körper nur als lästiges Übel begreifen. Im therapeutischen Prozeß muß daher versucht werden, diese Störung zu beseitigen, da sonst eine ständige Rückfallgefahr besteht. Primäres Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, eine direkte therapeutische Einflußmöglichkeit vorzustellen, die sich allerdings noch in den Anfängen befindet und weiterer Erforschung bedarf. Zuvor wird jedoch kurz auf die empirischen Grundlagen der Body-image-Störung eingegangen, und vor der Beschreibung des praktischen Vorgehens in der Therapie wird die zugrundeliegende Theorie dargestellt.
