Abstract

During the rest of 1986 and the first 6 months of 1987, work proceeded in the superhigh radiation fields of the Zone. So-called technical decontamination, which has since continued in the Zone for nearly 5 years, did not result in a safer environment.

“Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls — it tolls for thee.”

John Donne “Devotions”
