Abstract

The organ shortage forces many Italian nephrologists to put their patients on waiting list for kidney transplant in foreign countries. This was the case in our dialysis center until 1982. Since then, considering the increasing number of Italian donors, we have decided to preferentially put our patients on Italian transplant programs (mainly NITp). The aim of this study is to verify the effects that this change in transplant policy had on the cost/benefit ratio.
