Zusammenfassung
Die photoautotrophen Moose sind, abgesehen von wenigen Ausnahmen, die sich sekundär wieder an das Leben im Wasser angepaßt haben, Landpflanzen. Sie bilden lappige Beläge oder dichte Polster an zumeist feuchten, schattigen Standorten und sind, nach Cyanobakterien bzw. Grünalgen, auf felsigen Unterlagen meist die Zweitbesiedler. Aufgrund ihrer Piastidenfarbstoffe (Chlorophyll a, b; Carotin α,β), und da sie Stärke als Reservestoff bilden, werden sie von den Grünalgen (Chlorophyceae) abgeleitet (Teil I, Abb. 12). Ferner gibt es rRNA Homologien mit Chlorophyceen*.
