Abstract

Cyperaceae represent the order Cyperales, and exhibit the following features: (1) secretory anther tapetum, (2) simultaneous cytokinesis in pollen mother cells, (3) three-celled, monocolpate pollen grain as pseudomonad, (4) ana-tropous, bitegmic, crassinucellar ovule with inner integument forming the micropyle, (5) cutinized hypostase, (6) Polygonum type of embryo sac with ephemeral antipodals, (7) Nuclear type of endosperm, (8) Onagrad type of embryogeny, and (9) albuminous seed.
