Abstract
The order Rhamnales comprises Rhamnaceae, Vitaceae and Leeaceae. These families show close resemblance in several major respects: secretory multinucleate tapetum, simultaneous cytokinesis, three-colporate pollen grains, presence of hypostase, massive parietal tissue, nucellar beak in Rhamnaceae and Vitaceae, Polygonum type of embryo sac, ephemeral antipodals, Nuclear type of endosperm, Asterad type of embryogeny, ruminate endosperm, and perichalazal seed in Vitaceae and Leeaceae.
