Preparation and Properties of High-Tc Superconducting Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O Thick Films by a Melting-Quenching-Annealing Method
We have prepared superconducting Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thick films (30–100 μm) on MgO (100) substrates using a rapid melting-quenching-ànnealing method. A layer of Bi1.6Pb.4Sr2Ca2- Cu3.6Ox mixture on MgO (100) substrates was melted at 1050 °C for typically 2 min. The samples were then directly cooled to room temperature. After an annealing at 860 °C for about lOh in air the films exhibited superconductivity with Tc(zero) = 108 K. The critical current densities at 77 K and zero magnetic field were about 103 A/cm2. Morphology and composition of the films were investigated by SEM, EDX and X-ray diffraction measurements.
