Abstract
We present processed images obtained with a commercial Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) using a personal computer and a data acquisition card. With the PC-acquisition card scheme, we are able to digitize and process images for display on a high resolution monitor as well as obtain and store scanning parameters. Modification of the microscope control unit was also necessary in order to incorporate the lock-in technique for imaging. Images of graphite and gold scanned in air are presented.
