Abstract

The engineer who designs, optimizes or analyzes a process for a chemical production plant needs information about the operating conditions i.e. temperature, pressure, composition, transfer of mass, heat and work at all important points in the process. Beginning with the specifications for feed and products, he has to calculate mass and energy balances, changes of state, phase equilibria etc..

The integrated system for data handling developed at our institute consists of three autonomous parts allowing him to

  • retrieve published data from the Berlin Data Bank Thermodynamic (BDBT)

  • execute calculations with the Berlin Process ‘Berechnungs’ Package (BPBP)

  • present results in diagrams or tables with the Berlin Plot Program Thermodynamik (BPPT).
