Numerical Application of the KP Equation to a Particular Oceanographical Problem

Abstract

Some nonlinear evolution equations in one independent space variable, exactly solvable by the inverse-scattering theory (such as the KdV, the Kubota-Ko-Dobbs and the Benjamin-Ono equations) were used in the past few years to model some features of internal wave propagation in real oceanic sites. The 1ST was used in some cases and sometimes numerical calculations for which the 1ST was irrelevant were performed as well. The literature on the subject is extensive and quotations can be found in some of the papers cited below.
