Abstract

The investigations presented were started to establish the causality between stress fractures and cyclic disturbances. They also show however that, contrary to our previous clinical management we should in addition treat cyclic disturbances in girls, young women and those in the menopause after appropriate diagnosis. The negative effects on the bones affect all age groups.

If maximal bone density has not been achieved by 25 years of age, it is lacking later in life. The lesser the bone density, the earlier a women suffers from the osteoporosis.
