Abstract
An 11dB insertion loss in a carrier-injection type 4 × 4 optical single- slip structure (S3) switch array is demonstrated by optimizing the waveguide structure and anti-reflection coating. To reduce further insertion loss, a novel switch structure that integrates an optical traveling-wave amplifier in the optical S3 switch is also proposed.
