Abstract
The characterisation of a composite bistable device (OBOE) which utilises either electrical carrier injection or photogenerated carriers to achieve switching is reported. The device can be switched in the presence of a holding beam by either a 3V electrical pulse or by an optical power increment of 50 µW.
