Zusammenfassung

Läßt man prähistorische Versuche außer acht, den Krebs durch Ausschneidungen und Ausbrennungen zu heilen, begann die eigentliche Ära der operativen Therapie des Zervixkarzinoms mit Freund und Czerny, die 1878 sowohl die einfach abdominale wie auch die vaginale Hysterektomie in die Krebstherapie einführten. In dieser Zeit kamen allerdings etwa 70% aller Patientinnen mit einem Zervixkarzinom in einem derart fortgeschrittenen Stadium zur Diagnostik, daß nur wenige davon profitierten.
