Abstract
The history of mankind can be divided into 3 periods: the period of hunters-gatherers, the period that followed the agricultural revolution and the period that followed industrialisation. In his latest book, McKeown [1] observed that “in the first period there was no effective con-trol either on the environment or on reproduc-tion; in the second period there was some control on the environment but not on repro-duction and in the third period there was fur-ther control on the environment and, for the first time, on reproduction but there was insuf-ficient control on the conditions of life created by industrialisation.”
