Abstract
Severe problems are created by the swift progression of hip joint involvement in rheumatoid arthritis that occurs in puberty. As already mentioned, destruction is rapid. In these young patients the indication for synovectomy must be established with particular precision, sometimes after only a short disease course, in order to stem further destruction.
