Abstract

This session is divided into two parts. The first six papers concern long-term followup of endoprosthetic replacement. This is of course a crucial item for limb-salvage. Since endoprosthetic reconstruction has now been widely used for a long time, I think that there exists an accumulated experience which will allow us to draw conclusions as to the feasability and durability of this kind of surgery. The last two papers are reports on the effect of adjuvant treatment on endoprosthetic replacement. As the potency of drugs and irradiation is increasing and as treatment protocols tend to become more complicated, it seems appropriate to analyze the possible hazards of such measures from the surgical point of view.
